It will draw on the positive experience and best practices of the UNECE countries in improving women’s access to ICT provided by governments, civil society and private sector. 9 | UNECE Side Event on E-Policy and E-Regulation in Transition Economies at the WSIS Pan-European Regional Conference | This workshop provides a synthesis of the discussions undertaken by the UNECE on e-Policy and e-Regulatory Framework for the Information Society at the national, regional and global levels. It aims to contribute to the WSIS 2003 by summarizing main issues currently being addressed at the global fora, explore major implications for the Pan-European region and underline future directions capitalizing on recommendations put forward by regional and international experts. The debate also aims to understand how to establish enabling legal environment for the Information Society by means of appropriate regulatory approach taking into full consideration new technology development and the regional context. |
13-15 | Round table sessions on Women’s Entrepreneurship at the Central European Initiative (CEI) Summit Economic Forum | UNECE will organize four Round Table sessions at the CEI Summit Economic Forum. The sessions will discuss partnership among stakeholders and new initiatives supporting women’s entrepreneurs in CEI countries, with focus on information technology and financial support, initiatives of municipalities and women’s business associations. The results of the first training course for women entrepreneurs organized by CEI, ITCE/WIFI and UNECE will be evaluated. The sessions will conclude with the discussion of projects and follow up activities in 2003. The sessions on women’s entrepreneurship became an annual event at CEI Economic Summits in response to the growing interest of CEI members. |
