About Sustainable Energy

UNECE’s work on sustainable energy is designed to improve access to affordable and clean energy for all and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the carbon footprint of the energy sector in the region. It promotes international policy dialogue and cooperation among governments, energy industries and other stakeholders.  The focus  is on energy efficiency, cleaner electricity production from fossil fuels, renewable energy, coal mine methane, natural gas, classification of energy and mineral reserves and resources, and energy security.  Read more


25th Session of the Committee on Sustainable Energy resumed

The Committee on Sustainable Energy will continue its dialogue in support of the energy-related Sustainable Development Goals in this resumed session, which will focus on the results from the informal public consultation process about document ECE/Energy/2016/9.

Survey on Methane Management

The UNECE Secretariat in consultation with the secretariats of the International Gas Union, the World Coal Association and the World Petroleum Council and other industry experts, has prepared a survey of how methane monitoring is done currently.

We invite you to participate in the Survey on overcoming barriers to investing in energy efficiency. The survey is part of a joint study by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency that aims to examine and recommend measures that support increased investment in energy efficiency.  Deadline extended to 7 February 2017. Survey is closed. Responses are being analyzed. We will inform you of the results of the survey when the analysis is complete.
