UN/LOCODE Web Service
UN/LOCODE Web Service

The clear and unambiguous definition of locations in international trade such as place of loading, place of transshipment or place of final destination. Clearly, misunderstandings on any of these locations introduce serious costs and rises for the trading partners. However, it is quite common that these locations have different names in different languages(Warzav-Varovie-Warsava-Warschau), the same location might have different names (the official name of Bombay is Mumbai). Therefore the United Nations Economic Commission of Europe (UNECE) introduced in 1972 the UN/LOCODE, an international code that unambiguously specifies important locations used in international trade. Today UN/LOCODE is the essential code list to specify locations referenced in trade documents.

With this web service trader can access the UN/Locode from any device using SOAP protocol
