ISO 3166 Country Code List Web Service
Country Code Web Service

Web Service provides access to ISO 3166-1 Country Codes. The use of this code lists is recommended by the United Nations for use in international trade documents (UN/CEFACT Recommendation No3). The code list is maintained by the ISO 3166 maintenance agency. UNECE provides this code list in HTML format, as XML Schema and as Web Service now.

This demo below will execute a UNeDocs Web Service call to the Server. The Web Service call will transfer the user data. The Web Service engine on the server processes the data and sends the result back to the browser.The Web Service can be called by any type of custom-built application such as a Spreadsheet program or an Enterprise application.

Type a two digit ISO 3166 country code and click check button to see whether it is a valid code or not

Type a two digit ISO 3166 country code and click Find name button to see name for a valid code

   For example YT or y% or %y%

Type a country name and click search.

   For example Australia or Aus% or %au%

This Web Service compares the codelists local file version with the latest version on the server maintained by UNECE. The Web Service will send the local version number (say 0.3) and compares it with the latest version on the UNECE server. This will help the webservices client to decide on codelist updating.


This service can be used if the local copy version and the server version is different.As the SOAP with Attachment protocol is still under developement, this service will return Code List XML file as a string,the client program should be able to read and write this string in to an xml file.
