Since 1948 the Economic Survey
of Europe provides regular, comprehensive analyses of economic developments
and prospects in the entire ECE region. Following the radical changes
in political regimes in the formerly centrally planned economies of
the ECE region, the Survey has since 1990 placed particular emphasis
on developments in the countries in transition of eastern Europe and
the former Soviet Union and the western response in terms of aid, trade
and private investment. Starting in 1998 issues of the Survey
have incorporated the Economic Bulletin for Europe.
Issue No. 1 of the 2002 Survey
is available below in MS Word and PDF format. It is also available as
a United Nations publication (Sales No. E.02.II.E.7). Part
One of this issue contains a review and assessment of recent macroeconomic
trends and prospects in the whole of Europe, the CIS and North America.
Part Two and Three contain special studies on
Technological activity in the ECE region during
the 1990s;
Alternative policies for approaching EMU accession
by central and east European countries;
New forms of household formation in central and
eastern Europe: are they related to newly emerging value orientations?
Part Four contains a Statistical Appendix with long
time series for a large array of variables.
