As described in the first paragraph of the UN/CEFACT Agenda (ECE/TRADE/C/CEFACT/2008/1), the UN/CEFACT Bureau has decided to organize informal consultations with mission representatives and elected UN/CEFACT officials on the afternoon of Monday, 15 September and the morning of Tuesday, 16 September 2008.

The consultative session on Monday afternoon, 15 September, will start at 3.30 pm in the Plenary conference room. UN/CEFACT Heads of delegations and delegates from national capitals are invited to meet with representatives of their Geneva-based diplomatic Missions, who serve on the UNECE Executive Committee. The goal is to foster better communications and understanding about UN/CEFACT and its work as seen from national capitals and Geneva-based diplomatic Missions. Members of the Bureau and the Forum Management Group will be present in the Plenary conference room to facilitate consultations and answer questions. From 5 to 6 pm on Monday there will then be an informal exchange of views among all of those present. Interpretation will be available.

At the consultative session on Tuesday morning, 16 September, from 10 am to noon, members of the Bureau and Forum Management Group will provide an overview of UN/CEFACT and also seek to address any points raised during the previous afternoon’s session.

Both consultative sessions will provide important background to the formal Plenary sessions that will start at 2.30 pm on Tuesday, 16 September.
