From 1999 through 2005, the UNECE Advisory Group on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRAG) was operating under the now defunct Working Party on Legal and Commercial Practice.

IPRAG conducted consultative visits to requesting member countries to hold discussions and to develop recommendations on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. Background reports were prepared as a basis for the discussions held during these consultative visits. The work of the UNECE Team of Specialists on Intellectual Property builds on the work done by IPRAG.
