The main objective of CECI in this thematic area is to promote an enabling environment for efficient financial intermediation in support of innovative development.

Innovative enterprises face particular difficulties in accessing finance, which requires specific policy responses. These include regulatory and tax policies and concrete mechanisms of support, often in collaboration with the private sector.

Activities in this area lead to synopses of good practices and policy recommendations that are broadly disseminated among member States and other stakeholders. To achieve its objectives, CECI organizes meetings and events and develops networks of experts linking government officials, academic and business organizations.
