Introduction

At the first Expert meeting in 2004, participants recognised that the issue of radioactive scrap metal is becoming more and more important. Yet, for those seeking support and information, there are still very few widely accepted standards or tools that can serve as useful resources. In this section, we provide links to a number of existing documents categorised as regulatory or technical. Please also consult the pages "Training and capacity building" and "National best practices and lessons" for additional materials.

INTERNATIONAL REGULATORY TOOLS:

This page presents a selection of existing legislation or standards at the regional or international level that can support governments in framing their approach to managing radioactive scrap metal.

TECHNICAL TOOLS:

This page presents a selection of existing methodologies on defining for instance clearance levels, or on measuring tools, or on approaches to radioactive waste.
