The 21st Session of Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies took place during 31 October and 2 November 2011.

The session included the following events
- Discussion on three draft recommendations on: “Risk Management Tools in Regulatory Systems (will be made available shortly) ”, on “Recommendation on Crisis Management in Regulatory Systems” and on “Good Market Surveillance Policies and Practices”.
- One publication on “A Glossary of Market Surveillance Terms” was launched, and another on “Risk Management in Regulatory Systems” was presented in draft form, for comments.
- A global database on “Market Surveillance Authorities: competencies, mandates, and contacts” was presented.
- A workshop "Traceability: a tool for managing risks" on 31 October and 1 November. Experts from regulatory authorities, standardization bodies, conformity assessment bodies and market surveillance authorities showed how traceability may contribute to managing risks in supply chains and help policy-makers achieve regulatory goals. - A Panel discussion on "Standards and regulations as a tool for promoting sustainable development: Preparing for Rio + 20" on 2 November: how do standards contribute to the three pillars of sustainable development, i.e. economic growth, environmental integrity, and societal equity.Following presentations were made during the Panel session: Ms. Monika Linn, Mr. Michael Peet, Mr. Kevin McKinley, Mr. Gabriel Barta, Mr. Ashok Ganesh, and Ms. Diane Taillard.
